Captain Betty is an odd sailor that appeared in Monster Hunt. and he is voiced by Jim Cummings.

In Monster Hunt, Captain Betty helps Jimmy, Carl, and Sheen looking for a monster that's been haunting Lake Retroville. After Hugh Neutron has seen dumping Jimmy's chemical waste into the lake, the monster appears. Carl recognizes the monster at his pet turtle Snappy which Carl had to release here due to being allergic to him. Captain Betty is eaten by the turtle, while Jimmy, Carl, and Sheen watch in horror. After Carl manages to get Jimmy's de-mutation pellet down Snappy's throat, the turtle turns back to normal and spews out Captain Betty. Cap'n Betty shows Jimmy, Carl, and Sheen that he is alive, and they paddle to shore.

Appearance[]

Captain Betty has blue eyes, grey hair, and a grey beard. He is wearing a knitted grey wool pullover and jeans underneath a yellow oilskin. On his head he is wearing a brown & white baseball cap with a print that reads "Property of Amity Marina", and that has a large bite taken out of its bill. His right hand is prosthetic, due to an encounter with the mutated Snappy.

Trivia[]

  • Since Monster Hunt is a parody of Jaws, it can be assumed that Captain Betty is a parody of Captain Quint. Both captains are unorthodox, yet well experienced. And both get eaten by the sea monster (although Betty survives by getting spat out). However, Captain Betty is more deranged and comical (for obvious reasons).
  • Betty is voiced by Jim Cummings in his "Long John Silver" voice from The Pagemaster.
  • Captain Betty has photographic evidence of a previous encounter (before the events of Monster Hunt) with Carl's pet turtle Snappy. Since Betty himself is in some of the pictures, and some pictures of Betty's ship seem to be taken from a distance, it remains unclear who operated the camera.
  • Despite only officially appearing in Monster Hunt, Betty also made numerous cameo appearances, for example in Sheen's Brain, Men at Work, Billion Dollar Boy, Win, Lose and Kaboom! (through Jimmy's slide projector), Fundemonium, My Big Fat Spy Wedding, The Trouble with Clones (although this might not count because it's only a clone of him on Evil Jimmy's cloned earth), Who Framed Jimmy Neutron?, and Jimmy Timmy Power Hour 3: The Jerkinators (on a billboard).
